Elliot’s Biker Bash to benefit The Center for Missing & Exploited Children By Astrid Bidanec The Maryland Chic Riders (MCR) participated in the 65-mile long Elliot’s Biker Bash 2007 ride on August 12th to raise funds for The Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The ride was sponsored by radio station DC101 and started at Old Glory Harley Davidson in Laurel, Md. leading to Catamaran's on Solomon's Island, Md. A total of 1,200 registered bikes and 400 motorcycle riders joined them for this good cause.

Along with 95-99 per cent of the event proceeds, DC101 also raffled off a brand-new 2007 Ford F-150 from Ted Britt Ford to benefit the charity. At press time the event coordinators estimated the total amount raised to be just over $33,000. While the Maryland Chic Riders are fairly new group of 20 biker ladies, they do plan on organizing their own charity events in the future. Since many of their members are moms, the cause for this particular charity event is close to their heart. Nevertheless, they currently differ from the more hands-on groups like Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA). “Our group (the Maryland Chic Riders) sticks to the fund raising side of things right now, but that may change as we get more members and find more charitable organizations that we are passionate about,” explains Maureen from the MCR. With many other charity projects in the works the MCR set a great example for others to follow. Add as favourites (43) | Quote this article on your site | Views: 888
